SASE Onsite 2024: Connect + Build

SASE Onsite 2024: Connect + Build

This inaugural gathering is the only one of its kind specifically for you — automation software engineers across industries and disciplines — to share insights and expertise, join forces in real-time collaboration, and boost the visibility and future of the society.

We welcome you this year as we Connect + Build in-person, following through on our one-page plan to solidify our community.

You will have the opportunity to engage with fellow ASEs who have been challenging the status quo and applying software practices in industrial automation for years. This three-day event in Portland, Oregon, will include panels with top experts, substantive participant-led conversations around key ideas, peer-to-peer learning, hands-on building, and meaningful connection.

Register to secure your spot. For our first in-person event, we're capping attendance at 50 participants.

Featuring SASE Onsite are ASEs who have been pioneering new concepts and methodologies in our emerging field for decades.

2024 Theme: Connect + Build

SASE is the place where automation software engineers connect virtually and in the real world. We bring our questions and ideas to Slack for feedback and workshopping, and toast to a similar worldview when we find ourselves in the same city. Imagine what we’d ignite when we rally our allies around the ideas that matter most to us!

As stated in our 5-point plan for world domination, SASE is unlike any other professional organization, and the same is true of our events. We’re breaking free from vendor gatekeeping to create a program that is expert- and participant-led in a format that gives everyone access to emerging big ideas and revolutionary methods.

During this three-day event, we’ll build our collective influence by connecting with one another and solidifying our intentions for the community’s future. Hosted in Portland, Oregon, a city that embraces creativity and natural beauty, SASE Onsite will tap into our world-class food and drink scene and the majesty of Forest Park, one of the largest urban forests in the country.

Why meet?

"Everyone now realizes the value of in-person more than ever before. An event would do wonders to solidify the group if we came together in person… Nobody wants to come see someone else’s PowerPoint..."

"Creating community-generated resources like white papers or libraries would be a nice way to show people how SASE does stuff — curated and demonstrable..."

Here’s what it looks like when ASE’s converge in one location.

How SASE Onsite will benefit your work

Unlike other events and conferences, SASE Onsite creates a safe space for all perspectives, where everyone has an equal voice, and provocative ideas can flourish. Bring questions from your company or show your work and leave with constructive feedback, validation, and community-generated solutions.

The unconference format prioritizes collaboration, open discussion, innovation and problem solving. It ensures ideas are relevant and will influence your approach to your work. Participants will leave with a fresh perspective and new, practical expertise. You’ll expand your network of peers to include those who are influencing:

  • Digital Twins
  • Agile Development Processes
  • Source Control with Git
  • UI in Industrial Spaces
  • CI/CD Systems
  • Path Planning

Together, we’re building the ASE discipline. Help us usher in the new era, as you carry the torch back to your company.

Code of Conduct

At SASE Onsite, we strive to create a welcoming and inclusive environment where all participants can learn, share, and connect meaningfully. To maintain this spirit of community, we ask that all attendees adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Community Guidelines: Our community guidelines will be enforced throughout the event. Please conduct yourself in a manner that upholds these behaviors.
  • No Solicitation: This event is intended for learning, collaboration, and connection. Solicitation and sales conversations are not permitted.

Health + Safety

Our top priority is to ensure the safety of all participants and vendors. Please be mindful of others’ comfort levels–if someone is wearing a mask, consider their personal space. We’re all about fist and elbow bumps as alternatives to handshakes and hugs. If you are not feeling well and have been in close contact with someone who has COVID-19, we ask that you stay home and contact us for a refund. Thank you for helping us create a safe and enjoyable experience for all attendees.
